When you had to leave us I never thought I would make it through that day nor the next or the next. Yet somehow days weeks months and years have passed and somehow all of us - Dad, Jenna, Dave and I - have managed to make it through. Now here we are; five years have passed since we last heard your voice and held you close and told you we loved you. And how we still love you Dan. And we still all miss you so so much.

You would have laughed at the stupid place we went to yesterday; it was so 'gay'! But we enjoyed the time together and talked about you a lot - good memories that made us laugh!

Look down on your sis when she has your baby nephew.

Wow 5 years on and I still remember the day you left us like it was yesterday! So much has happened since August 2004 but your memory has never been forgotten. In 6 weeks time your gonna be an uncle little bro! N yes i'm sure he is gonna have some of your tendancies especially as he will be named after you! I hope you're watching us from wherever you are and look after us in these times ahead. I got a tatoo on my neck last year and the meaning behind it is for you. We visited a butterfly sanctuary yesterday and I know you will be laughing at us as it was pretty rubbish! Anyway thinking about you loads today and just wanted you to know how much I miss you.

Four years on  / Debbie Scott (Mum)

Hey Danny

It's now been four long years since I last held you and told you how much I loved you. I know that I can and still do tell you that, and that wherever you are you can still hear me.

What I can't believe is that four years have managed to pass when I've not had you in my life. On the day you left us I couldn't imagine getting though the rest of the day, the week, the year; and yet I did and here I am. Bad memories of those times still come into to my mind to hurt me, but more and more often, good, funny, lovely memories come along and chase them away, and I am so very grateful that I have those memories which will never fade.

And I am so thankful that through and because of you I have met some fantastic people and have made some wonderful and supportive friends.

And also because of you, who you were and what you went through, I feel I have become a different person than the one five years ago before you became ill. I KNOW life is so very precious and so every day should be enjoyed to the full; every opportunity should be seized.

One day son, you and I will be together again. Until that day, I will cherish those memories which help me through the dark times, and will live my life well.
